The History of Pieminister... Guest Blog
Ice cream and pie, what could be better?!
Founders of Pieminister, Jon and Tristan, talk us through the history of their truly tasty brand… (A warning, if you are hungry to look away now.)
Delicious, hearty and made with the best British ingredients, our pies are perfect for a day at the Farm. Just like the Fell family’s fabulous ice creams we’ve more than filled our cabinet with Great Taste Awards over the years. No one likes a show off, but we are proud to say that we are also British Pie Awards champions too, so you really are getting the best with a Pieminister pie.
Like the Ice Cream Farm, we’re also proud to be a family business. Our story all began over 10 years ago when, inspired by our travels around Australia (sampling great Aussie pies along the way) we decided to open a pie shop of our own. In 2003 we started making pies in our hometown of Bristol, promising to always use the most delightful, ethically sourced ingredients that we could find. This promise remains central to everything we do today. Still family-owned (we’re now brothers-in-law) we hold three Good Farm Animal Welfare Awards from Compassion in World Farming. This is in recognition of our commitment to high animal welfare. As well as always using higher welfare eggs, meat and dairy produce, we only use 100% free range British chicken and pork.
If this hasn’t motivated you try a Pieminister pie next time you visit us at the Ice Cream Farm, we’re not sure what can! Let us know what you think and send in your pictures to the Ice Cream Farm on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
